Hot Water Beach is the place where sunset on the East Coast looks different. A big cloud of mist hits last rays of sunshine and both cover the long grass of the dunes. If timing is right and there are no people digging holes in the sand to get to the hot water, you are in for a treat, my friend.
It is about 2 and a half hours of drive from Auckland or Hamilton. The heroes of today’s story, Tori & Davis, drove all the way from Cambridge for an engagement photo shoot. Yes, it is 2 and a half hours of drive and they did it all in one day. Together with their 2 fur babies and Davis’s Mum (to help with the dogs) they hit the road and arrived just in time for the golden hour.
They say the hardest work is to work with animals or children. I disagree. They bring so much fun and touch of chaos, that it is hard to get boring photographs! So, take them with you and let me capture all the joy.
I believe most of the beaches in New Zealand have restrictions when it comes to dogs during summer peak season. However, if you time it right just outside of the season (or later in the day during summer holidays), you and your fur babies can enjoy off leash freedom. For us, this time, Hot Water Beach was very quiet and offered so much space to enjoy this stunning afternoon.
As you go through these beautiful photographs, you wouldn’t think for a moment that Tori and Davis had never had their photos taken professionally. We aimed for a relaxed and candid atmosphere where nothing is forced. With the right guidance and full trust from this beautiful couple it was such a joy capturing their love and happiness.
Looking back at these photos, I cannot wait to capture their wedding in just a few months. Telling the story without saying anything only sounds hard. But when there’s connection, friendship, trust, love and excitement for the future, it is actually more of a pleasure than just work.
I will leave you to this romantic adventure where the world stopped for a moment and let us feel the love.
Got engaged and planning your special day on Coromandel? Here’s where to start. Or, if you are planning an adventurous proposal on the coast of Coromandel, I would love you to look at this beautiful story.
